Help End Insurance Discrimination Against People With Mental Disorders: Share Your Story With NMHA

If you have health insurance through your employer and have been either denied mental health treatment by your health plan or required to pay high out-of-pocket costs, mental health parity could help you.

Comprehensive mental health parity would end the pervasive practice of setting tighter limits and higher costs on mental health care than on medical or surgical care. Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act (S. 486 and H.R. 953), which is pending in Congress, would outlaw disparities between mental and physical health insurance coverage in group health plans.

How You Can Help
To win enough congressional support to get this bill passed, the National Mental Health Association needs personal accounts of insurance discrimination we can share with lawmakers to put a human face on a problem millions of Americans confront everyday. Your stories will help persuade Congress to end the stinging inequity of insurance discrimination and vote this important legislation into law.

Please take a few minutes to fill out our form and tell us about the obstacles you’ve faced in getting mental health treatment under your health insurance plan.
