Examining All the Evidence: When Evidence-Based Medicine Isn’t What It Seems A current trend in treating chronic mental disorders is actually harming patient care. Nationwide states and other health care payors are turning to evidence-based medicine to treat chronic health conditions, including mental illness. However, many of these “evidence-based” approaches are not based on all the evidence. In fact, the policies being implemented often lack fundamental elements essential to a true evidence-based approach.
