How Do I Get My Donation To NMHA Matched By My Employer?

  1. Find out if your employer has a Matching Gift Program:
    · Contact NMHA's Development office to search our database of Matching Gift Programs. Please call or email the Gift Office (800) 969-6642 or 703-684-7722 or giftoffice@nmha.org with the name of your employer.
    · Contact your Human Resources Office directly.
  2. Obtain the appropriate forms from your Human Resources Office.
    NMHA sends an official acknowledgment of each donation by mail. This may be all your employer needs to process your matching gift, but usually a form is required.
  3. Complete the employee's section and sign the form.
  4. Send the form to NMHA. We will complete our section, confirming receipt of your donation, and will return it to your employer.

  5. If your spouse works for a corporation with a matching gifts program, you may be able to obtain a second corporate match!

Questions you may want to ask your HR Director:

  • Who is eligible?
    In addition to its own employees, some companies will match gifts made by employees' spouses, retirees, and board members.
  • What is the gift ratio of the match?
    Often, employers will match your gift dollar-for-dollar, but some will double, triple, or give five times the amount of your gift.
  • What is the minimum and maximum gift my employer will match?
  • What is the maximum total amount my employer will donate?
  • What types of charitable organizations will my employer match to?
