Prevention

NMHA leads the national movement for the prevention of mental and emotional disabilities. The National Prevention Coalition, led by NMHA, shares current prevention information, advocates to make prevention a priority and encourages the implementation of effective programs.

NMHA's Office of Prevention and Children's Mental Health Services also helps state and community agencies locate and implement proven programs to prevent outcomes such as violence, substance abuse and school dropout among our nation's youth.
